Nimbus from the SBC sampler. Black pepper assaults with no warning. Bits of wood playing peekaboo. Sweetness shows up like it got lost. Paired with black coffee.

Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Dark Knight. Flavorwise, it’s a simple and easy ride: earthy, a little chocolate, a little coffee, and most importantly zero drama. No BS and reliable.

Today’s afternoon smoke is the RP Royale Corona. Bitter and funky tasting. There’s nothing “royal” about this cigar. Tossed it after 10 minutes.

Quick breakfast smoke from the SBC sampler: Regius Maduro cigarillo. Enjoyable, inoffensive, and tasty. Kept me entertained for 30 minutes. Paired with espresso.

Unbanded cigar from the SBC budget sampler. 1. Mild sweetness, dry wood 2. Earth, touch of pepper 3. Nicotine! Simple and satisfying.

Nat Cicco Cuban Legends. Not bad, not great either. Just… impressively average. Construction, draw and burn? Shockingly decent. Flavors? Earth and mild spice. That’s it.

Small Batch Budget Surprise. Can anybody identify the cigars on the next picture? Any help is appreciated.

Los Hermanos by Casa Fernandez delivers a rich and elegant flavor profile, starting with bold red pepper and earthy leather notes. As the smoke progresses, subtle cocoa and coffee emerge, complemented by a delicate, almost floral finish.

Los Hermanos for cinco de Mayo. The Katman wrote: “First impression comes from a blast of red pepper. And some very subtle cocoa. And lots of earthiness. The stick starts off as classic medium bodied. There is a nuance of leather.” And I? I concur.

Time to take out the classics: pre-Davidoff Camacho Connecticut Churchill. 1: cream, light wood, sweet bread. 2: wood intensifies and mixes with a dry nuttiness. 3: cream cheese over toast. Unusual in every aspect.

HVC Hot Cake. Tastes like chocolate, espresso, and earth… so basically your morning routine, but rolled in tobacco. A little pepper jumps in like it forgot it wasn’t invited, and there’s just enough sweetness to pretend it’s a treat.

Goss Maduro Toro. First half was a bit of a lackluster, the cigar had nothing to offer but smoke and nicotine. Second half was much nicer, sweetened black coffee, wood, dried fruits, creaminess… very tasty.

Joya Black Toro. War gar nicht meins. Nichts außer einem Hauch von schwarzen Pfeffer. Keine Süße, Holz, oder dergleichen. Ein Fehlgriff.

Camacho Limited Harvest. Very woody with a “wet stone” flavor that carries through the entire smoke. Retrohale was lightly musky with a faint bitterness. Some pepper spice, no chocolate, no coffee, no cream. Unique.

Joya Black Toro. Firm ash. A hint of black pepper. That’s all there is. No coffee, no wood, no sweetness, no nicotine. The cigar was DOA. I have had good experiences with JdN in the past, but today was not one of them. Maybe a dud.

Camacho Select Lonsdale. Nutty, bittersweet, and spicy. Think toasted cashews, ginger, molasses, and cedar with a cola-like tang. After all these years, it can still hold its own. Amazing.

Latest acquisition of pre-Davidoff Camacho: Limited Harvest, Select, and Connecticut. Since these cigars have been aged for a good amount of time I don’t have to wait to indulge. I’ll keep you posted.

Just me, a coffee, and the Camacho Corojo 10th Anniversary. No flex, no rush. The right cigar for me to spend two hours of quality time and slow down. And damn… it still hits!
